Prof. Ying is an inventor of over 190 primary patents and patent applications, and a founder of 8 spin-off companies. She was Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1992-2005), and Founding Executive Director of the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, A*STAR (2003-2018). Prof. Ying is currently Director of NanoBio Lab, and A*STAR Senior Fellow of Institute of Materials Research and Engineering and A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs. She has won numerous awards for her research. She has been elected to U.S. National Academy of Inventors (2017) and U.S. National Academy of Engineering (2021).

Biographical Sketch

Noreena was the Director of Corporate Administration of Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (2003-2018) and NanoBio Lab (2018-2022). She directed 22 staff members in the administration, human resource, business development, finance, procurement, corporate communications, and information technology departments. She is also the founder of 2 spin-off companies.

Daniele was the Team Leader and Principal Research Scientist of Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (2007-2018) and NanoBio Lab (2018-2022). She was awarded the Lush Prize for Science for animal-free test to predict kidney drug toxicity in 2016.

Tani has a dynamic career spanning 25 years in academia, government and industry. As ex-General Manager, Temasek Life Sciences Accelerator, he helped incubatees, such as Hummingbird Biosciences, with a successful USD25M Series B. As Ex-COO, MiRXES, he raised seed funding of SGD4M and Series A USD40M, as well as established distributors in over 30 countries and closed research collaboration agreements worth over $20M.

Biographical Sketch

Noreena was the Director of Corporate Administration of Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (2003-2018) and NanoBio Lab (2018-2022). She serves on the Board of Cellbae Pte. Ltd., and is in charge of Cellbae Inc.’s operations in the U.S.

Jun Hui is an expert in rapid test kits/assays, infectious diseases diagnostics, food safety testing, nanomaterials, and biosensors. He was the Co-PI and Project Leader of multiple grants at NanoBio Lab, A*STAR. Jun Hui obtained his Ph.D. from the Imperial College London with A*STAR Graduate Scholarship, and is actively commercializing various rapid test kits.

Nadjad specializes in developing multiplexed PCR assays, and is inventor of CEPAT – ultrafast isothermal assay. He was the Project Leader of multiple grants at NanoBio Lab, A*STAR, and is the PI of a Singapore Food Agency grant at Cellbae. Nadjad received his Ph.D. at the National University of Singapore with A*STAR Graduate Scholarship, and has commercialized RT-PCR assays.

Enrique’s research experience includes microbiology and bacteria protein expression. He leads the efforts on the design and production of enzymes and antibodies for diagnostic assays and reagents. He received his Ph.D. in Physics, and was a Pew Latin American Fellow. He was a Research Associate in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University, and a Senior Research Scientist at NanoBio Lab, A*STAR.

Jacqueline is focused on the development and manufacturing of RT-PCR assays. She received her B.Sc (Hons) in Biological Sciences from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Her research experience includes stem cells, and high-throughput screening assays for organ-specific toxicity predictions.

Siswand received his B.Sc (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from National University of Singapore. He has developed rapid test kits for foodborne pathogens. He has also conducted research on molecular diagnostics of infectious diseases. His expertise in ISO manufacturing has contributed to the ISO 13485 certification for Cellbae's facilities.
